Larry the Woodturner
I retired as a manager of Information Services after 40 years of working at all levels in the information technology field. My first 10 years I worked for Washington State University in Administration services. The next 10 years I worked for an international oil company where I had assignments in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, London, England, The Hague, Holland, and Houston, Texas. This also allowed for extensive travels around the world with family. My last 18 years were with the Boeing Company working in various management positions. My wife, Judy, retired as a pharmacist after 30 years working for various pharmacy companies.
I learned my love of woodworking while in high school where I had several years of shop classes. After leaving high school, obtaining three college degrees including an MBA, marrying Judy, having a family, and then moving them around the world for several years, woodworking became less a hobby and more a necessity as the family grew and work ensued on remodeling and/or building a succession of houses for the family. Finally after completing a vacation home on the Olympic Peninsula, and with no where to put my collection of wood working tools, we bought property in Olympia and had a shop built in 2001. Then in the Spring of 2003 after we sold our home in Issaquah, near Seattle, Judy and I lived in the shop while our house was completed in June 2003, where we continue to live today. |
