At this time, I offer four different instructional group classes which all run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

  1. Basic to intermediate woodturning.  In this class we cover safety, tool sharpening, wood orientation, proper use of the tools, proper layout, and turning basics. In the morning we do a gavel and the afternoon is devoted to doing a bowl.
  2. Natural edge forms.  In this class we cover safety, layout of the natural edge form and the techniques for completing not only natural edge bowls but also other natural edge forms.
  3. Platters.  In this class we cover safety, layout of the platter and the techniques for completing platter, including inlays and other decorative features.
  4. Boxes.  In this class we cover safety, layout and design of the box form and the techniques for completing the lidded box.  It also includes inlays and other decorative techniques.

Cost for the group class is $90 and includes wood used in the projects.  If interested send me an e-mail indicating your topic of interest and the general time frame in which you would like the instruction.

The pictures show one of the group classes for which I was the instructor.  The picture with the large seated group is not one of my classes, but I often allow my shop to be used for the Woodturners of Olympia club to put on classes from internationally known woodturners.  This particular class was taught by Don Derry from Ellensburg Washington.  We’ve also hosted Jimmy Clewes for a series of two classes.  If you happen to be interested in knowing when these classes might be offered, go to the Woodturners of Olympia link from my links page.
